"A tree 25-55 m. tall, to 104 cm. in girth, with a long clear bole and with a spreading crown. Bark mottly gray-rust brown, shedding in small plates. Buds globular, 2-4 rrin. long, brown. Leaves nearly obovate to spoon-shaped, bluntly acute, dark green, glossy, mid-green to paler below, 6.8-9.5 cm. long by 1.5-2.6 cm. wide. Male strobili light green, relatively thick, to 13 mm. wide; microsporophylls relatively thin, 1-2 mm. wide. Female cone blackish- green at first, then brown, scales shiny, globose, to 7.6 cm. long by 10.2 cm. wide" (1).Range

This species is listed as "LR/nt" (lower risk, near threatened) by the World Conservation Monitoring Centre - Trees database, which adds: "Scattered emergents survive in small exposed groves of rainforest in the eastern highlands. Over exploitation of the timber is a threat."Citations
