This "Genus Directory" lists names to help plan search requests.
Most valid plant fossil genera published before 1985
are included, as are many informal
and other kinds of names. They are all quoted from the
literature. Browsing the list gives an overview
of the diversity within the plant kingdom through
geological time. But be aware that the organs
of plant fossils are found separately and so they
have different names: one extinct
plant may have
fossilised parts creating five or more names.
