NOMENCLATURE SECTION

Immediately preceding the main program of the XVI IBC, the Nomenclature Section of the Congress will take place at the Missouri Botanical Garden in St Louis on 26-30 July 1999. This Section will be presented by the Bureau of Nomenclature as prescribed by the International Code of Botanical Nomenclature. Additional information about this Section of the Congress can be found in Taxon, the journal of the International Association for Plant Taxonomy (IAPT).

Congress registration includes the right to participate in the Nomenclature Section. Conversely, only registered Congress participants are admitted to vote at the Section meetings.

Confirmation

When you register for the Congress through our registration company, Conferon, Inc., you will immediately receive a Confirmation. You must bring this with you in order to receive the Identification Name Badge which will allow you to participate in the Nomenclature Section.

Venue

Since all meetings during the week of the Nomenclature Section will take place in the Shoenberg Auditorium of the Missouri Botanical Garden, an informal lunch plan will be available for participants who do not wish to leave the grounds at lunch time or stand in line at the public restaurant. The plan is optional, but must be purchased as a package for the entire week in order to allow for planning by the caterers. The cost is $50.00 for five days. If you wish to participate in the lunch program, please check the appropriate box on the Registration Form and include the cost with your other fees.

IAPT will host a banquet for the participants of the Nomenclature Section on Thursday evening, July 29, 1999. (See the Society/Association Event section for a description of the banquet.) This will be a ticketed event; check the appropriate box on the Registration Form and include the cost with your other fees.

Housing during the Nomenclature Section

For specifics about downtown hotels, including rates and contact information, please refer toHousing Information. Several of the downtown hotels blocked for the IBC will have rooms available at the same rates starting on Sunday, 25 July; these include Adam's Mark, Holiday Inn Select, Marriott Pavilion, Mayfair (very limited availability), and Regal Riverfront.

All seven of the downtown Congress hotels have rooms available on Monday, 26 July. Reservations at these hotels can be made through the same registration process that applies to IBC registration. Because these hotels are not located close to the Missouri Botanical Garden (the venue for the Nomenclature Section), shuttle buses will be provided between these hotels and the Garden for Nomenclature week.

Delegates may prefer to make their own reservations during that week at hotels closer to the Garden. Several that are located relatively nearby include:

Please note: if you do not use one of the seven downtown hotels reserved for the IBC, you must make your own reservations.
