Oenocarpus bataua

With its huge head of erect leaves like a shuttlecock, and massive inflorescence hanging down like a
horse's tail, this large palm is easily recognized in the wild in its native South America. As an interior
plant its growth is somewhat more modest, but nonetheless spectacular. The new young leaves are
a dark maroon colour, it is vigorous and fast growing, and seems to have no special requirements.
