Cyphophoenix elegans are native to New Caledonia. They grow in rocky rainforests near streams, they prefer acid soil and are quite tough. When young they prefer a shady place with good draining soil. Seeds are difficult to germinate and slow to grow, but C. elegans will grow in warm-temperate and subtropical areas. Photo courtesy and copyright © 1998, Mike Maxson, Palms of the World.
