"Jurassic Age" by Charles R. Knight
This painting depicts a hyphothetical landscape of Bavaria, Germany, around 150 million
years ago. The painter's focus was on the flying creatures of the age, with reptilian
pterosaurs at the top, Archaeopteryx--the first known bird--in the middle, and Compsagnathus--the
"compy" of Jurassic Park fame and a controversial possible ancestor of
all birds--at the lower left. However, the reason for displaying this painting in the Virtual
Cycad Encyclopedia is not for the birds, but rather because every plant shown is a
cycad. Any ideas on the genera represented?
