I am a PhD student at the University of Maryland, College Park, in the department of Cellular Biology and Molecular Genetics. My research is focused on Mistletoe, Phoradendron leucarpum, and it's cellular interaction with host trees. Previously I managed a retail herbal medicine business and practiced as a clinical herbalist. A central passion to my inquiries, past, present and future, remains---what is the complex role phytotherapeutic compounds play in the plant itself? Mistletoe is simply the first of many mistresses. She laughs mercilessly at my inadequacy as a researcher and a thinker, but remains my favorite companion in the game of chaos. | ||
