FONAIAP-Mérida in conjunction with the Andean Cooperative Program for Potato Research (PRACIPA) have developed two distinctive cultivars of potato, Caribay and Andinita within others which show horizontal resistence to Phytophtora infestans. The multiplication of these material is by in vitro means. The aim of these research was to detect differences between the two accessions using RAPD molecular markers. Thirty primers were screened in the two germplasms. Each marker amplified around 15 bands. One marker was selected as useful for the identification.
