The first strucrural indication of storage protein accumulation within the vacuoles system appears as small clumps dense stainning material with a homogenous fine granular structure attached to the inner surface of the tonoplast of all vacuoles there is a lot of ribosomes in the adjacent cytoplasm. Globoid round in profile, are observed in vacuoles prior to protein deposition. The size of globoid varied from tissue-to-tissue and in a given protein body. The globoid crystals seems to be nuclei for deposition of protein material. Between 75-80 days after anthesis a large proportion of vacuoles fills with proteins. The difference in the structure of protein bodies may be related purely to the different maturation stages.
