IDENTIFRUIT: A GUIDE TO THE FLESHY FRUITS OF TORONTO'S CHINATOWN AND KENSINGTON MARKET

Sara T. Scharf, Botany Department, University of Toronto, 25 Willcocks St., Toronto, Canada M5S 3B2

IDENTIFRUIT is a DELTA (DEscriptive Language for TAxonomy) database made accessible on the internet with PollyClave (http://prod.library.utoronto.ca/polyclave/index.html). IDENTIFRUIT enables users all over the world to identify fleshy fruits via a multiple-entry key enhanced with illustrations of the taxa. The database is a valuable resource for anyone wishing to study the diversity of fruits used by different ethnic groups, particularly in Toronto, the world's most multicultural city. The IDENTIFRUIT key is written in simple English and extensively illustrated to allow users with limited botanical knowledge to employ it effectively.
