REPORT OF PTERIDOPHYTIC FRUCTIFICATIONS FROM THE DECCAN INTERTRAPPEAN BEDS OF INDIA.

Three petrified pteridophytic heterosporous fructifications are collected from deccan Intertrappean beds of mohgaonkalan and singhpur of M.P. India. 1) Salaginellites chitalei, measures 0.9 mm x 2.5 mm in size. It shows central axis on which 14 ligulate sporangia arranged spirally in the axil of sporophyll with ligule. Four megasporangia at the base each with four matured megaspores. Ten microsporangia at terminal end with indefinate microspores. 2) Deccanites intertrappea, resembles with Marsilea sporacarp, measures 2 mm x 1.5 mm in size. It shows a megasporangium with four megaspores covered by indusium. Megaspore wall is ornamented. The six microsporangia present on receptacles lies on teh side of the megasporangium annulus. Each microsporangium consist of many spores with triradiate mark. Sporocarp wall is multilayered and spongy. 3) Lycopodiophytostrobus intertrappea resemble with division Lycopodicphyta but not with any genera in toto. It is collected form Singhpur of M.P., measures 10 mm x 4.5 mm in size. It is eligulate heterosporous strobilus. It consists Megasporangia with megaspores having big air spaces for floating devices. Microsporangia are scattered each with 12 - 16 microspores. Central axis with ill preserved parenchymatous tissue.
