XVI International Botanical Congess
Information collected recently updates the known Chinese records of cup-fungi to 720 species of 171 genera. Although known species increase rapidly, discomycetes in tropical China are under-studied. Comparisons between previous records and current discoveries show that fungi of the Hyaloscyphaceae in the tropics are highly diverse and rich. Number of species of the family investigated increased from 30% to 87% since 1988. Distribution patterns of the Chinese species, new taxa added to the group, and relationship among selected genera are discussed. Related discomycetes found in a few countries are briefly compared.
