MICROMYCETES AS POTENTIAL ALLERGENS CONTAMINATING MEDICINES

A. A. Zakarian & L. L. Osipian, Yerevan State University, Yerevan, Armenia

Non-sterile medicines sometimes happen to be contaminated by microscopic fungi. This form of medicinal infection is dangerous not only for the rise of mycotic diseases, but as a means to provoke an allergic reaction. It is very urgent in this respect to identify fungi up to specific level. Our investigations on various groups of non-sterile medicines revealed more than 160 species of fungi from genera Aspergillus, Fusarium, Mortierella, Mucor, Paecylomyces, Penicillium, Rhizoctonia, Rhizopus, Sclerotium, Scopulariopsis, Sporotrichum, Stemphylium, Trichoderma, Trichothocium, Torula, Ulocladium, Verticillium. A considerable part of them are potential allergens.
