There are few paleoecological studies based on plant macrofossils from México. Climatological parameters are calculated for the fossiliferous Los Ahuehuete locality, Puebla, Mex., based on a well reserved leaf assemblage. It is compared with a semi-xeric locality from the same area which is added to the CLAMP Database. The application of this phisiognomic method allows comparison of extant and pest climatic variables. The results suggest that during the Oligocene, in the Los Ahuehuete locality a temperate climate was present promoting the development of a microphyll community composed of Cercocarpus, Karwinskia, Prosopis, Populus, Pseudosmodingium, Salix, Cedrelospermum, etc. This community does not have an extant representative and may be part or the community precursor of the chaparral and matorral espinoso subinerme.
