XVI International Botanical Congess

Between December 1998 and November 2001, EcoCiencia and the Mountain Institute, with the coordination and technical support of the University of Amsterdam and with funds from the Dutch Government, will carry out a project that aims at producing a National Stategy for the Sustainable Management of Paramos in Ecuador. There will be applied research (including vegetation mapping), socioeconomic and political components which will work together with local communities, NGOs and GOs in order to systematize the implementation of management plans in six representative paramo areas in Ecuador. The poster will present the projects background, organization framework, methods and partial results up to August 1999.
