The division and the cellular lengthening during the formation of potato (S. tuberosum L.) cv Andinita microtubers was studied in somaclonal plants obtained from nodal segments of shaft from 5 to 6 mm of longitude. The cellular lengthening was determined by the measure of transverse and longitudinal segments of nodal sections. The mitosis was detected by tolouidina, the rhythm and the frequency of this process was determined by counting of the cells. Under these conditions the microtubers formation consisted in: formation and stolons elongation and initiation of the tuberizacion with the microtubers development well in the area subapical of the stolon or directly from the bud.
