PLEUROTUS TAXA IN IRAN

Maryam Saber, Plant Pests and Diseases Research Institute, Tehran, Iran

The genus Pleurotus contains the so-called oyster mushrooms, and cover a group of common lignicolus agarics several of which are edible. Up to date, nine taxa have been known in Iran. P. cornucopiae, P. ostreatus, P. pulmonarius are widespread on standing dead and dying timber of frondose species especially in northern Provinces of Iran. P. dryinus, P. elongatipes, P. placentodes are rare species and are restricted to the North. P. eryngii, P. eryngii var. nebrodensis, P. fossulatus grow on umbellifer roots. They are abundant and widespread in central, southern and western Provinces. Monokaryotic and Dikaryotic mycelia were isolated from P. cornucopiae, P. eryngii, P. ostreatus, P. pulmonarius and preserved on P.D.A in culture collection affiliated to Mycology Section, Department of Botany, PPDRI.
