Durázio S. Siqueira* and Maria J. N. Rodal^, *SUAPE, ^Universidade Federal Rural de Pernambuco

The Zumbi forest (8?18'30 to 8?19'22 and 34?58'39 to 34?59'24) covers 162.5 ha, with rainfall of 2,000 mm. year -1 and average altitude of 45 m. Within a sample area of 1 ha (50 plots) all plants with dbh ?5 cm were measured. Woody species observed during walks in the forest were also collected. A total of 119 species and 43 families were found. TWISPAN and cluster analysis of the species observed in the area and 15 surveys realized in the Atlantic coast of the Brazilian Northeast Region, showed that the forest is more related to the closest ones than to others in the south of the region. Density, dominance, Shannon diversity index, and average diameter and height were 1,657 ind. ha -1, 27.5 m2 ha -1, 3.47 nats ind -1, 11.5 cm respectively, which are similar values found in the other forest with the same environmental conditions.
