We study in this work a list of 25 alloctone species from different Families with original American distribution. These species belong to a selected set of a research project focused on the knowledge of the alloctone flora in Portugal (southwest of Europe). The methodology and elaboration of results proposed to develop this project are discussed. The main goals of this investigation are in the following: (1) establishment of a list of alloctone flora in Portugal, (2) determination of its distribution of these alloctone species in the country, (3) indication of the vegetal communities where they have developed their ecologic niches, and (4) understanding of the possible reasons for the occurrence of these species in Portugal.
