Lipoxygenase (LOX), the key enzyme in the formation of jasmonic acid and traumatic acid, activity was determined in green gram during different developmental stages The seedlings recorded substantial LOX activity starting from day 1 of germination, reaching a maximum by day 3. Stem contributed most to the total LOX activity of seedlings, stem and leaves at pre-flowering stage, stem, leaves and flowers at flowering stage and stem, leaves an d seeds at maturity stage. These observations suggest that LOX in green gram is expressed tissue specifically and developmentally regulated.
