Antioxidative systems are activated in plant cell as the consequence of the heavy metal pollution. Peroxidases are enzymes involved in the antioxidative response of the plant cell. In this work we studied peroxidase activity, isoenzyme pattern and metal content in the soil, using UV-VISspectrophotometry, isoelectrofocusing and atomic absorption spectroscopy. The leave samples were taken from the plants grown in the field and in the greenhouse. A parallel change of peroxidase activity and isoenzyme pattern was observed with increasing metal concentration.
