At the time of quickly spreading use of molecular criteria in the Umbelliferae taxonomy, morphological (s.l.) and especially carpological analysis does not lose its value for delimitation of genera and other taxa. We have studied anatomical structure of fruit in more than 750 sp., petiole anatomy in 400 sp., stomatal types in 450 sp. in connection with their taxonomy. Among carpoanatomical characters, size and form of exocarpcells, commissure width, size, shape and lignification of mesocarp cells, numbe Anatomical characters have been of much help in taxonomy of genera Elaeosticta, Chamaesium, Prangos, Angelica, Peucedanum, Ferula, Leiotulus and other Tordylieae, etc.
