ENVIRONMENTAL VARIATION OF CAPSELLA BURSA-PASTORIS (L.) MEDIC

Oh, Yong Cha and Lee, Chang Shook, Department of Biology, Sungshin Women's University, Seoul 136-742, Korea.

In order to investigate the patterns of intraspecific variation in Capsella bursa-pastoris according to geographical and environmental alternation, major morphological characteristics and flavonoid chemistry of 23 populations collected from various localities in Korea were examined. Geographical variation observed in various localities were not remarkable, but it appeared that under the different environmental conditions(light intensity, soil component, water content), the species show variation in plant height, leaf shape, root size, stomata frequency, and the flavonoids spots number.
