Interactions between species are vital for ecosystem function, documenting and understanding such relationships should be a priority for biologists. Using published and unpublished records of plant-pollinator interactions, we have surveyed the diversity of pollination systems in the highly evolved dicot family Asclepiadaceae. At least nine distinct pollination systems are recognised with most diversity between tribes. Biogeographic differences in pollinator use are apparent. Our database of plant- pollinator interactions in the family is an ongoing project which is available over the World Wide Web http://www.uni-bayreuth.de/departments/planta2/research/floral.htm)
