THE GENERA MUSCARI AND BELLEVALIA (HYACINTHACEAE) IN SOUTHERN TRANSCAUCASIA

A. Nersesian, Inst. of Botany, 375063 Yerevan, Armenia

Though the genera Muscari and Bellevalia in the region have already been a research object (Schchian, 1946, etc.) particularly the independence of the genus Leopoldia wasn't accepted, some taxonomic questions still remain. According to our data the genus Muscari in the region is represented by subgen. Leopoldia: M. longipes, M. tenuiflorum, M. caucasicum, subgen. Botryanthus: M. pallens, M. neglectum, M. sosnowskyi, M. szovitsianum. M. pallens, a Caucasian endemic, is known in Southern Transcaucasia only from Ijevan floristic region. From the genus Bellevalia in the region occur: B. sarmatica, B. longistyla, B. glauca, B. fominii, B. zygomorpha, B. paradoxa, B. pycnantha. B. fominii found earlier only in Abaran floristic region we discovered in Ijevan floristic region. B. sarmatica, B. longistyla, B, zygomorpha are rather rare too. Karyological studies are being carried out.
