THE CHINESE CURCUMA SPECIES

12 chinese Curcuma species are recorded in this paper. 6 of them are special in China. They distributed in the south region of N. Lat. 33? in China, and species numbers are gradually reduced from the South-west toward the south-east. Curuma albicoma S. O. Tong. and C. chuanyujin C. K. Hsieh et H. Zhang are merged into C. sichuanensis X. X. and C. Kwangsiensis S. G. Lee et C. F. Liang in this paper separately. There are no C. zedoaria (Christm)_ Rose., C. caesia Roxb. and C. aeruginosa Roxb. in China. These 3 species were misidentified from C. phaeocaulis Val. There is no C. elata Roxb. that was misidentified from C. wenyujin Y. H. Chen et C. Ling. in China. C. kwangsiensis var. affinis Y. H. Chen and C. kwangsiensis var. puberula Y. H. Chen are not recognized. C. Viridiflora Roxb. from Taiwan is suspicious. It is discussed that the Chinese medicinal herbs Jiang hunag", e shu" and yu jin" are what kinds original plants.
