C.A. Lubini, R.K. Kusehuluka, Institut Superieur Pedagogique de la Gombe

A comparative survey has been made on the specific wealth in different climacic forests of Congolian Central Basin and its southern surroundings which consists respectively the forests with Gilbertiodendron dewevrei, Brachystegia laurentii, Scorodophloeus zenkeri that asssiated to different species of Cynometra, Parinari excelsa and Diospyros conocarpa, Gilletiodendron kisantuense and the forest with Gossweilerodendron balsamiferum and Hylodendron gabunense. The transect method applied has revealed the variation of specific diversity with the latitude and longitude. This phytodiversity fluctuates between 123 and 287 species / ha, the average is 177 species / ha. The homogenous forests are not specially rich as heterogenous forests. The Leguminosae (Mimosaceae, Caesalpiniaceae, Fabaceae), Rubiaceae, Euphorbiaceae, Annonaceae, Meliaceae, Connaraceae and Apocynaceae constitute the basic floristic of those types forests, whereas the Cola, Dichapetalum, Diospyros and Rothmannia genera are best represented. Those forests are exploited for economic, food, rituel, social, cultural, communication purposes and for storage. The authors are considering possible ways to create protected areas in the connection with the above mentioned floristic variations and the management of those forests.
