VARIATIONS IN CHEMICAL COMPOSITION OF PLANTS UNDER AIR POLLUTION STRESS IN UZBEKISTAN

Vegetation of the region investigations is greatly endangered by carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, nitric mono- and dioxide, methane, ammonia and sulphic dioxide. 22 plant species (Platanus orientalis, Populus nigra, Populus alba, Juglans regia, Malus domestica, Morus alba, Persica vulgaris, Medicago sativa, Lycopercicon esculentum and others) were tested for ten important elements : Cd, Pb, Mg, Fe, Mn, Co, Zn, Al, Cr, Ni near of the 5 industrial centres. The contents of heavy metals in plant foliage exponentially descreased with the distance from the factories. Morus alba and Persica vulgaris were containing maximum of nitric dioxide.
