WEST TIAN MU SHAN-THE NATIVE PLACE OF WILD GINKGO

West Tian Mu Shan, Zhejiang Province, is famous with giant trees, especially the ancient Ginkgo trees. all over the world. In this paper, the evidences of the origin of the Ginkgo biloba based on their original populations distribution and growth are described. The description including: 1. A great many ancient veterans and their distribution, 2. Tree age could be older than that of the temple-building history, 3. Being accompanied by many relic species of Tertiary period, 4. Having natural regenerated seedling and old seedling trees with the capability of germination for multi-generations, and 5. The significant variation of seeds.
