GENETIC TRANSFORMATION OF WILD BARLEY(Hordeum brevisublatum).

Wild barley is a kind of fine herbage. In order to improve its tolerance to salt-alkali and improve nutrition quality, we transferred several kind of foreign genes into the herb by particle bombardment separately: 1. Plasmid pBI221 with GUS gene in it, part of the bombed calli and regenerated plants were tested GUS histochemical assay positive. 2. Plasmid pBRLYS (with rich lysine protein gene cloned from Psophocarpus tetragonolobus, promote by ubiquitine promoter, GUS gene fusion, hygromycine selection), obtained drug-fast regeneration plants. 3. Plasmid pPTSB (with P-35S promoted levan synthetase gene, Basta selection), obtained drug-fast regeneration plants, PCR detection positive. Further examinations are in progress.
