Roll of the Podocarpus oleifolius Don olivo in the dynamics of the Cachil forest, Cascas, Peru, 1997

José Mostacero León, University Nacional de Trujillo, Trujillo, Perú

The area under observation was divided into three strata: A, B and C (2400-2550 and 2700 m.a.s.l.) in each of which multidisciplinary sample gathering has been routinely done in neotropical and subtropical forests employing as sample unit the 10 m x 20 m. and a sample size of n=20 for each stratum, which makes a total of n=60 for the whole forest. to sampled data many statistical tests were applied which allowed us to determine: density (4,87 individuals/200 m2), coverage (C=40.32%), frequency (F=97%) values that determine the importance value (I.F.=112.41%), gathered distribution type (D=1.53), dominance of Podocarpus oleifolius calculated by means of modified Simpson=s index of predominance according to Simpson yields abundance of species but low predominance of each of them Podocarpus oleifolius presents. High values of density, dominance, Coverage, wide range and niche capability with respect to other species which allow us to conclude that this is most important biotype in the dynamics of Cachil forest.
