Lichen flora of the northern part of the Lagonaki mountain area, North-Western Caucasus: Guam range (the left bank of the Kurdjips River) and Guam Canyon, was studied in 1996-1997. The length of the canyon is 3 km, the dept is about 400 m. The rocky slopes are covered with forests of Quercus, Fagus, Tilia, Buxus, Taxus, Pinus, Abies. The investigation resulted in the discovery of 43 lichens species belonging to 30 genera. The lichens of Guam Canyon can be classified according to the substrate they are found on: chalkstone - 25 species, sandstone - 10, ramped stones and mosses - 8 species. The leading place among ecobiomorph belongs to plagiotropic life forms which mainly consist of classes of crustose and foliose lichens (86.1%). Umbilicatic, warty- or scaly-fruticose and fruticose lichens constitute only 13.9%. The most numerous lichen genera of the Guam Canyon area: Lecidea, Lecanora, Rhizoplaca, Physcia.
