DIFFERENCES IN THE SENSITIVITY OF LICHEN PHOSPHOLIPIDS TO PEROXIDATION.

The sensitivity of lichen species to different stress factors is connected, at least in part, with membrane lipid sensitivity to peroxidation. The purpose of the study was to develop a method of treating membrane lipids which would initiate peroxidative reactions and to determine differences in membrane lipid sensitivity. Peroxidation of polar lipid preparations from Peltigera canina was initiated using sulfur dioxide solution (1 ppm) for 1 h. as well as Fe/ascorbate system and calculated by direct measurement of lipid peroxidation products - conjugated dienes in polyunsaturated fatty acids. The following sequence in terms of phospholipids sensitivity (diacylglycerol-3- methylhomoserine (DGTS) < phosphatidylcholine phosphatidylserine
