Wedelia calendulacea Less (Asteraceae) is a folklore medicinal herb found in Assam, the Eastern and the Western peninsula of India. The plant is known for its immunostimulatory activity. The leaf extracts are efficacious in curing skin diseases and liver problem The present study was aimed at standardizing a protocol for micropropagation and plantlet regeneration. Nodal explants cultured in M/S medium containing BAP 2mg/lit produced maximum number of multiple shoots. In addition to that, with the help of leaf segments leaf calli were induced from M/S medium supplemented by 2,4 D 2mg/1. Then leaf calli were transferred to the regeneration medium containing 2, 4 D 1mg/1 and kinetin 0.5 mg/1 and number of multiple shoots were produced. Well-developed shoots were transferred to the rooting medium containing IBA 0.5 mg/1. Eventually the plantlets were transferred to the plastic pot containing soil for the hardening process. The hardened plantlets were brought to the field for natural growth.
