Most studies on Paleozoic pteridosperms concentrated on permineralized plants, particularly on their anatomy and reproduction. However, also the compression material can provide important information, especially with regard to growth habits, life strategies and autecology. Compression counterparts of some well-known permineralized taxa are still insufficiently known. This paper focuses on growth forms and life strategies of some poorly known pteridosperms from the uppermost Carboniferous and Permian. New data on climbing medullosans, compression forms of callistophytales and peltasperms will be presented, showing the importance of compression studies for the understanding of their biology.
