XVI International Botanical Congess
Lipid fraction isolated from blue-green alga (cyanobacterium) Microcystis aeruginosa Kütz, emend. Blonk. (laboratory culture and natural populations) by Folch has manifested antibacterial (conditionally pathogenic microflora) and deterrent and entomocidal (herbivorous insects) activity. The correlation between common lipid content, provision of biogenic compounds and biocidal characteristics was revealed in model experiments (express tests on drosophila flies and bacteria were used). Selective action of the fraction was stated in diverse test objects which have differences in a type of feeding (such as Colorado potato beetle and fall webworm). In the first case lipid fraction had an inhibitory effect for some vital function (nutrition, process of fat synthesis, growth and metamorphosis) of Colorado potato beetle larvae. In the second case lipids have caused an increased mortality of fall webworm larvae.
