REVIEW ON THE MOSSES FROM THE ISLANDS OF THE BAY OF PETER, THE GREAT SEA OF JAPAN

The studied islands are situated in the very south of the Primorsky Territory (PT) of Russia in the bay of the Peter the Great in the Sea of Japan. According to the recent data there are 195 species of mosses from 100 genera and 32 families growing on these islands. The large number of moss species is contributed by the families: Hypnaceae 22, Amblystegiaceae - 20. Brachytheciaceae - 15, the family Thuidiaceae s.l. is represented there by a significant number of species (20) demonstrating a peculiarity of the PT=s bryoflora. Some species have been found within the PT only on the islands (e.g Neckera yezoana, Dozya japonica).
