VEGETATION OF RUSSIA: A DEGREE OF KNOWLEDGE AND MONOGRAPHIC REVIEW PROBLEMS

The Program AVegetation of Russia@ begin in 1998 for Komarov Botanical Institute. It is extensive and designed on a few years the program of actions on taking stock of vegetation on the territory more than 17,000 thousand sq. km. The new political reality makes necessary integration within the framework of new borders of the Russia with purpose to show all phytocoenosis a variety and to estimate vegetative properties and plant resources of the country. It is supposed: 1) to create datebase of realy existant and known primary geobotanical material - descriptions of plant communities, 2) to write the multivolume monography as a vegetation types and separate plant formations review. The last review of vegetation for the whole territory former USSR concerns by 1956, and for territory of a European part of the country - by 1980.
