EFFECT OF ORGANIC MANURE AND BIOFERTILIZERS ON YIELD AND YIELDCOMPONENTS OF CHICKPEA VARIETIES IN SANDY SOIL

El-Khrmany, M. F. and Bahr, A.A. National Research Center, Dokki, Cairo, Egypt

This study was carried out to investigate the effect of organic manuring with sawdust compost, microbien biofertilizer and chemical fertilizer on yield and yield components of two chickpea varieties in sand soil with poor properties. Two field experiments were carried out during winter seasons of 1997 and 1998 at south El-Tahrir Province, El-Behaira Governorate, Egypt. Organic manuring and biofertilization gave significant increases in seed yield/Fad. And most yield components in the two seasons. The effect of organic manure and biofertilizer on N,P and protein content in seeds exceeded that of chemical fertilizer. Such results, indicated the great efficiency of utilization of biofertified system in rationalizing the consumption of chemical fertilizers to increase both yield and quality of chickpea and protect the environment from chemical pollution.
