BROMELIACEAE OF SAO PAULO STATE, BRAZIL

This work is part of the Flora of São Paulo State represented by about 7700 species, 1500 genera and 184 families of flowering plants. The Bromeliaceae taxonomic treatment is under the supervision of the senior author and the other collaborators are participating with different genera of eh tree subfamilies, Pitcairnioideae, Bromelioideae and Tillandsioideae. The family is represented in the State by q2 species distributed in the genera: Acanthostachys, Aechmea, Ananas, Billbergia, Bromelia, Canistrum, Catopsis, Dyckia, Hohebergi, Nidularium Neoregelia, Pitcairnia, Psuedananas, Quesnelia, Racinaea, Tillandsia, Vriesea and Wittrockia. A number of species, especially of the genus Vriesea are typical of the Atlantic fores. Nidularium and Canistrum are endemic genus to Brazil. Acanthostachys, Dyckia and Ananas occur in cerrado" and restinga". Two new species are proposed. The treatment comprises descriptions and keys to the taxa and taxonomic and ecological comments.
