THE HOLOTYPE OF UTRICULARIA CAPILLACEA WILLD

The holotype of Utricularia capillacea Willd. Sp.Pl.ed.4.113,1797 (Sm. 1819, A.DC.1844, Wt.1850 Trimen 1885): South India, Heyne (?) s.n. in Hb. Willd. B-W!) is a complete specimen with underground and aerial parts (Bhattacharya, P.K. Proc. 77th Indian Sci. Cong. part III.92.1990). Terrestrial herb. Rhizoids numerous from the base, capillary. Stolon 1.2 mm from the base of the scape, filiform. Scape twining 2.2 cm. tall, filiform glabrous, two perfect flowers distant, alternating with a sterile bract. Scales few (3), similar to the bracts but very narrow. Bracts 0.8 mm long, basifixed, broadly ovate-deltoid, concealing the bracteoles, apex obtusus, cum acumine. Pedicels 0.8 mm long, flexuous, spreading, filiform, narrowly winged or at least dorsiventrally flattened. Calyx-lobes 2.1 mm long, broadly ovate, decurrent, slightly unequal, apex-acute or slightly acuminate. (Corolla yellow). Ovary laterally compressed, lenticular, completely enclosed in the persistent calyx.
