XVI International Botanical Congess
Recent advances of higher-level systematics of Acanthaceae will be summarized and reviewed. Recent molecular studies have demonstrated that several large clades are those that have been diagnosed by previous workers on the basis of morphological data. This paper is the first attempt since 1895 to publish a list of currently accepted genera in the form of a classification. Genera are listed alphabetically within major clades. It is envisaged that this provisional scheme will provide a focus for further research, sampling and as a work in progress classification awaiting further elucidatioin.
