Most of the species in Potamogeton, including Korean taxa, show complicated patterns of morphological variation. In this study, to clarify the taxonomic identities of Korean Potamogeton taxa, several morphological characters were examined by LM and SEM. The species of Potamogeton in Korea could be divided into two groups based on pollen morphology and anatomy, one is the small pollen grains having small lumens, the other is the large pollen grains having large lumens. The former includes P.maackianus, P.crispus, P.alpinus, P.oxyphyllus, P.natans, P.distinctus, P.perfoliatus, P.malaianus, P.pusillus, P.octandrus and P.cristatus, which are belonged to subgenus Potamogeton, whereas the latter include only one species, P.pectinatus, subgenus Coleogeton.
