A.G.Gadimov, P.M.Safaraliev, Institute of Botany Academy of Sciences,Baku,Azerbaijan

Cowpea grown in a saline nutrient medium in the presence of polystimulines (PS) of auxin (PS-A6) and kinetin (PS-K) nature were used. Increasing of the nodules number by both types of PS (PS-A6 considerably more) as on fresh and so on the saline medium was shown. leghemoglobin (LB) content composed nearly 1/3 from total proteins of nodules both on fresh and saline medium. PS-K increased the nodules mass to a greater degree than LB content in its. PS-A6 reduced the inhibitory action of saline stress more sufficiently than PS-K. It was shown that under salinity the glutaminsynthetase (GS) activity was reduced in the roots and nodules, nodules GS was shown to be more resistant to the salt stress, its activity in the salt variant was egual to 81,5% as compared with control against of 69,9% of GS activity in the roots.
