GA-INDUCED AUTOLYTIC CELL DEATH IN WHEAT ALEURONE

We have previously shown that gibberellic acid induces cell death in wheat aleurone. We report here that GA-induced cell death GA-PCD is autolytic in nature and under transcriptional control. We have used differential display to identify genes that are upregulated several hours before cell death. These genes appear to act as positive regulators of programmed cell death in the aleurone.
