PHYLOGENY OF POLYPODIOID FERNS INFERRED FROM rbcL AND atpB CHLOROPLAST GENE SEQUENCES

Complete rbcL and partial atpB gene sequences from 11 species representing different subgroups belonging to Polypodioid ferns were newly determined. The molecular data together with those available in Genebank were employed to making phylogenetic analysis.Gene trees were obtained using neibor-joining, maximum parsimony and maximum likelihood methods, respectively based on 2 single and 1 combined s equence data sets.The results indicated that Polypodioid ferns was a monophynetic group but 3-4 subclades were found within the group with strong bootstrap support,in which Pyrrosioid diversified firstly and Drynarioid branched at the end. A new idea on classificaton of Polypodioid ferns were proposed according to the molecular phylogenetic study. *the presenting author
