STUDIES ON SCHIZOPORA FLAVIPORA S.L. IN TAIWAN

Sheng-Hua Wu. National Museum of Natural Science, Taichung, Taiwan

Specimens of Schizopora flavipora s.l. collected in Taiwan during 1988-1998 have been studied. Three species were identified: Hyphodontia flavipora comb. nov., H. nongravis comb. nov., and H. tropica sp. nov. H. nongravis is separated from the other two species in having effused-reflexed basidiomata, encrusted cystidia, and slightly longer basidiospores. H. tropica has smaller pores and shorter basidiospores than H. flavipora. Separation of these three species was supported by compatibility tests. H. flavipora has a worldwide distribution from temperate to subtropical regions. H. tropica is known from subtropical and tropical Taiwan. H. nongravis is so far known from Sri Lanka and subtropical Taiwan. The record of Schizopora paradoxa and S. radula in Taiwan was not supported in this study by studying the examined specimens.
