Taxonomic treatments and specific delimitation of Korean Adonis have been in dispute because their taxonomic features are poor and their variation is intergrading. RAPD analyses were carried out for 60 individuals from 12 populations to examine genetic compositions of Korean Adonis complex in South Korea. RAPD analyses separated Korean Adonis into three major groups. Phylogenetic analysis of ITS sequences also supported RAPD interpretation which recognized those groups for Korean Adonis. RAPD results gave a lead to find valuable taxonomic characters for Korean Adonis by close examinations of morphological features.
