DNA sequences of mt-atpA and -matR, cp-rbcL and -atpB, and nu-18S and -26S rRNA genes, splicing pattern of the mt-intron nad1.i4, and phytochemical and morphological data, collected from >100 species of basal angiosperms and gymnosperms, are analyzed to resolve relationships among basal angiosperms. This total evidence analysis yields a better resolved and supported topology than previous studies.
