Gabucci, L., Curioni, A. and García, M., Universidad Nacional de Luján. Ruta 5 y 7 (6700) Luján, Buenos Aires, Argentina

The white thistle is a medicinal plant, their fruits contain silimarin (hepatic protector). With the objective to study the number of heads per plant (NCP) and the number of fruits per head (NFC) plants were recollected at Bolivar, Argentina. The NCP, the diameter at the bottom of the heads and the NFC were recorded. The plants developed since 4 to 13 heads. The number of fruits per plant (NFP) was between 484 and 1359 and presented an increased tends as NCP increased. The NFC was between 0 and 250 and presented a decreased tends as NCP increased. A higher number of fruits per plant are determined of a high NCP and a larger diameter of them, and it means a highest NFC and a highest NFP.
